« Le véritable voyage de découverte ne consiste pas à chercher de nouveaux paysages, mais à avoir de nouveaux yeux »
Marcel Proust
Each age of adult life is punctuated with storms and embellishments that keep us moving forward. Life in general is not a long calm river, it is marked by different moments that correspond to transitions and they are not all approached and overcome in the same way.
They will sometimes cause more or less strong identity crises and for some people to emerge the need to be accompanied in order to see more clearly and to overcome these moments which are often particularly painful for them but also for those around them.
Indeed, we can all one day be led to ask ourselves questions about our identity, the meaning of our choices, our desires, our values, our needs because these questions are essential.
The meaning, the colors, the shape, the depth, the intensity that we give to our life and to the professional and personal choices that will mark it depend on our responses. The answers to these questions are different from person to person and may even be different for the same person at different times in their life.
The problem is often not just what it seems to be nor whet is just outside of oneself. It is at the meeting of what comes from inside oneself-one’s history and desires, one’s way of being, of thinking, of acting-and of what comes from outside, the environment, what is at play, what is transpiring. It is between these two places that we are often stuck and from where we must break away in order to discover that we are not quite as we thought we were, that our environment is not quite as we constructed or imagined it in our minds. It is between these two places, where we get stuck, that a passage can take shape.
Our beliefs, convictions, our certainties all have an undeniable impact on our behavior. These generalizations which form the basis of our world view were installed in us during our childhood, by our parents, our teachers, during our schooling and by the media. These personal affirmations that we think are true do not necessarily have a basis in logical reality and we are not necessarily even aware of them. During identity crises, these self-constructed beliefs that we have held onto until then limit us greatly. What seemed obvious to us is no longer the case, questioning and doubt shake the basis of our identity and therefore our beliefs.
